Skittle Rainbow

Room 12 made a Skittle rainbow today!

We put yellowred, orangegreen and purple Skittles in a circle on a plate.

Then Mrs Nelson gently poured some cold water onto the Skittles.

Then we waited and watched the colours 'melt' together to make a rainbow!

In the end, the colours mixed together and made the water brown.
It was exciting to watch!

Mixing colours

Room 12 has been learning about Primary colours.
We know that they are blue, yellow and red and you can't make these colours.

We did an experiment called 'Crawling colours'.
We put red, blue and yellow dye into 3 jars and plain water into
another two jars.

Next, we scrunched up tissues and placed one end into the jar with the
coloured dye and the other end into the jar of plain water and then we
watched and waited...

We watched as the primary colours 'crawled' from one jar into another
and made secondary colours!

It was really cool watching the colours crawl.
We learnt that yellow and red make orange and that red and blue make purple!

Room 12 performed a play called 'Do Whacky Do' in our Junior Assembly

We had lots of Mums, Dads, Grandparents and family come to watch us.

Flying high

This week Room 12 read a poem about kites flying high in the bright sky, so we decided to make and fly a kite of our own out on the school field.

The wind was just right so off we went!

Here we with our kites before we flew them on the field.

We ran around on the field with our kites soaring behind us!

Some got tangled and twisted.

We had fun running around on the field with our kites.

And some got wet on the dewy grass!

Fun and Games!

Room 12 has been learning about how to play safely in our playground.

We have also been learning how to play games and how to
share and take turns with others in our group.

On Friday, Mrs Nelson took us outside and placed us into 4 groups.
We were given 3 cones and 1 ball and had to work together and come up
with a new game to play and teach our classmates.

Caitlin, Isaac, Bharun and Tenny taught us how to kick the ball between the cones. If you hit the cone, you got out.

Next, Aaron, Toia, Caprice and Sonia taught us how to kick the ball at the wall. If you kicked the cone then were out and the next person had a go.

Then Geena, Iris, Spencer and Etienne taught us how to kick the ball at the cones. The more cones you knocked over, the more points you won.

Lastly, Jujhar, Indigo, Milana and Isla taught us how to place the ball into the cone, then throw the ball from the cone to the people in your group. If you caught the ball then you got to have a turn.

We learn't so many new games and how to share and take turns with our friends. We also learn't how to make rules and play games so that they were fair and we got to teach and play our new games together

What a great afternoon!

changes from liquid to solid.

Today we read a book about Rain and the different sounds it makes
and this inspired us to make our own rain sounds.

...So, sit back, close your eyes and listen to
Room 12's rain song!

Ronald McDonald visits Sunnyhills!

Sunnyhills was very lucky to have a visit from Ronald McDonald.
He came to talk us about being safe around roads and in the car.
He was very funny!

Ronald told us how he lost his red and white, medium striped, made to measure sock!
So Ronald went looking for it on his way to Sunnyhills School.

He told us to look our for 'sneaky driveways'.
We need to STOP, LOOK AND LISTEN before we cross the driveway.

Then Ronald showed us how to cross at the crossing.

Katie came to show us how the Sunnyhills Road Patrol help to keep us safe
and cross the road.

Then Ronald showed us how to cross at the crossing with Katie's help.

And lastly, Ronald found his red and white, medium striped, made to measure sock
Can you guess where it was...?

Thanks Ronald for showing us how to walk on the footpath and cross the road safely.
We are now Roadwise!
